Terms of Service

Jack’s Pool Co will evaluate all pools and identify any servicing, repairs, or replacements deemed necessary before beginning any service. We do this as a courtesy to you to make sure you understand and we agree on the current condition of your pool, equipment, and water chemistry. We also do this to protect our business and reputation. If the requested improvements are outside of the scope of services requested and are not done beforehand, whether by us or someone else, Jack’s Pool Co reserves the right to refuse service of your pool. We really want to have a great relationship with all of our customers and that requires setting things up for success.

Jack’s Pool Co will evaluate all pools and identify any servicing, repairs, or replacements deemed necessary before beginning weekly pool cleaning service. If the requested improvements are not done, Jack’s Pool Co reserves the right to add a surcharge to our service or refuse to service your pool. We really want to have a great relationship with all of our customers and that requires setting things up for success.

Customers subscribed to the Brush & Baskets or Chemicals Only services are expected to maintain other needs of pool cleaning at a standard that does not increase the time and effort needed to complete other duties. For example, if you subscribe to Brush & Baskets but don’t manage your water chemistry, we can’t make up for that or be blamed for sub-par water quality. Or, if you subscribe to Chemicals Only but never brush your pool or empty your baskets, we can’t make up for that by adding more and more chemicals.

Customers subscribed to the Full Service must maintain the quality and performance of their equipment. We will let you know when something needs to be serviced, repaired, or replaced. If that is neglected, it will impair your equipment’s performance and eventually cause our job to become unmanageable.

Jack’s Pool Co reserves the right to terminate a subscription if we cannot agree on responsibilities and expectations.

Filter cleaning is different for each type of filter, but the goal is to restore your filter back to its peak performance. For cartridge and DE filters, we will disassemble the filter and clean everything out. For sand filters, we will backwash your filter to restore starting pressure levels. During the cleaning process, we will inspect for wear and tear or any issues that might require replacing a part and communicate that to you. After reassembling or backwashing the filter, we will note the pressure gauge to ensure it is at the expected level and nothing needs to be inspected more closely.

We strongly encourage filter cleanings be performed at the beginning of the swim season and whenever your pressure gauge reads 10 psi higher than its starting point after a cleaning. For example, if your pressure gauge reads 12 psi after a filter cleaning then the next filter cleaning should occur when the pressure gauge gets up to 22 psi. This prevents many chemistry issues and enables your equipment to run at full efficiency. If you are subscribed to our weekly cleaning service, we will monitor this for you and let you know when it’s time to schedule a filter cleaning.

When cleaning the salt cell, we will inspect the plates for calcium buildup and remove loose debris with a hose or non-metallic scraper. If chemical cleaning is necessary, we will use a solution of muriatic acid and water to dissolve the mineral deposits then rinse thoroughly with water. All parts and connections such as o-rings will be inspected before reconnecting.

For a one-time cleanup, we will perform all of the services we perform for our Full Service pool cleaning as well as any additional services needed to restore your oasis. If heavy debris needs to be cleared, we will agree on where and how to dispose of the debris so there’s no missed expectations. Any necessary trash hauls must be reflected in our agreement before starting.

Our goal with one-time cleanups is to get you back to a well performing pool with stable water chemistry. However, depending on the state of your pool’s water chemistry, it may take additional chemical treatments even after our cleanup. We can provide Chemicals Only pool service until stable water chemistry is achieved or we can provide guidance for you to get there, but this will be agreed upon before starting cleanup.

We provide our Full Service pool cleaning while you are away. Our goal is for you to come back from your trip refreshed and relaxed to enjoy a pool that looks like it did when you left. Maybe better? Mama said leave things better than you found it.

All equipment and water chemistry will be assessed and current conditions of all will be agreed upon before we watch your pool. We want to make sure there’s no confusion on your pool’s current condition before you take your trip.

Whether the water is slightly green, but you can still see the bottom of the pool, or you have a genuine swamp and think something might be living in the deep end, the goal is a clean pool. The amount of time, effort, and chemicals to achieve a clean pool will vary depending on the condition of your pool. This service cannot be started until there is a thorough understanding of the condition of equipment, water chemistry, and all of the steps needed to be taken.

Performing this service requires equipment in good working order. If equipment is broken or needs service, this must be done before or during the service in order to maintain the clean state afterwards. If equipment cannot be restored to good working order, we cannot proceed with the cleaning.

Our target clean state is to have all organic debris and growth removed from the pool (just like after a normal cleaning), all water chemistry at stable industry-standard levels, and all equipment working at agreed-upon performance levels.

This includes skimmer baskets, leaf canisters, cleaner bags, and pump baskets. To prevent the early wear of o’rings we will use discretion when emptying pump baskets and leaf canisters. If the debris can be viewed clearly through the lid or container and its not likely to restrict flow by the next visit we may choose not to empty it during that visit to extend the life of your equipment.

We brush the waterline, walls and steps of your pool every visit. This helps prevent algae growth, disperse chemicals evenly, push debris toward the main drain, and protect your pool surface from mineral deposits and organic stains.

We skim the surface of your pool three times per visit, twice in its entirety and the third time for spot-checks. Our goal is to get everything on the surface. However, the outdoors is alive and the pool catches anything that falls into it, including right after we skimmed your pool. We would love to keep netting anything that falls into your pool, but we have to take care of other pools too. Trust us – it is eating away at the perfectionist deep down in our bones. This is why we also empty your baskets – so your pool equipment can do its part as well!

Chemical material means any product needed for the weekly balance of a body of water including but not limited to chlorine, acid, cyanuric acid, salt, algicides and more. This does not include new water conditioning with salt or cyanuric acid.

On a weekly basis, your pool’s chlorine and pH levels are tested. Each month, total alkalinity is tested. Every three months, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, and salt level for SWGs are tested. All levels are tested initially when we start maintaining a pool and we may test something if we notice an issue. All levels are balanced to industry standards. After each week we will turn on your filter pump to circulate the added chemicals and prevent plaster degradation. The pool should run for at least 1 hour each visit. There are many equipment sets and we have provisions for everyone. When leaving, Mechanical timers are left on, Variable speed pumps are set to quick-clean, and automated systems are placed in time out. All of these methods will automatically return the system to its previous state usually within 3 hours with the exception of mechanical timers. Please call if you need more information on this subject.

Each week as we enable the filter pump we will briefly look and listen for serious issues.

Our techs look for issues and report them after their visit is complete. Depending on the severity and type of issue, we may call to follow up with you about the problem or communication. Some examples are low water levels, equipment issues, limited service because of rain or bad weather and more.

For our weekly cleaning if you have an attached spa or a spa sharing the same equipment and water as the pool it is included in weekly cleaning along with the listed price.

In each season we send out a notification informing you that it is time to adjust your equipment runtime. We do not automatically adjust this for you. By request, we can offer a suggestion of runtime and ultimately make these changes for you as needed.

We expect that during each visit our staff will perform every step of the service in turn and we stand by the quality of work that is performed. However, If our performance was not acceptable simply report it to us by the next day and we will schedule a revisit. Also, please review our heavy debris policy for more detailed information and expectations of cleaning during these times.

For liability and insurance purposes we cannot add water to your pool at any time. Likewise, we cannot remove or replace pool covers, or security (e.g. fencing) for cleaning.

During and after high winds, in certain seasons, and even from natural disaster, your pool may collect excessive debris that requires cleaning beyond the scope of what is included in the service visit. By default and to prevent the clogging of your suction lines or damage to your equipment, we supply our servicemen with a portable vacuum that removes large debris. This vacuum, however, by design does not remove fine dirt and stirs it up in the pool only to fall to the floor hours later. The following week we will return and attempt vacuuming normally, permitted that no additional debris was added throughout the week. While this cleanup process is best for the pool and the equipment it may not be best for your schedule so we offer alternative cleaning options during these times per request. You may send in a photo of the pool and request additional quoting to expedite the cleanup as needed.

A monthly invoice is sent in an email by default on the 1st of each month and is due by the 16th of the month for which we are servicing. You may pay online using credit card, debit card, or ACH. Or, you can pay offline with cash or check. Billing is based on 4 weeks of service per month. A $7 or 10% (whichever is greater) finance charge will be applied to any invoice not received by next billing date. If you have an overdue invoice, weekly service will be paused until invoice is received.

We strongly encourage setting up autopay in our customer dashboard so that you can focus on enjoying your pool and we can focus on keeping it clean!

For all weekly pool service customers, we will provide Chemical Only service on the week of Thanksgiving; we will combine all service days to be done on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. We will be closed the week from Christmas Day through New Year’s Day.

When it is raining without chance of lightning, the technician will skim the surface of the pool, empty the baskets and remove debris. Vacuuming will be done if the bottom of the pool is visible; if not, then we will vacuum on your next service date.

Our billing is based on a 4 week month. Throughout the year there are a number of months where a 5th week of service is rendered. We trade this additional service for our Holiday minimized service schedules and unfinished work due to bad weather. For this reason, no adjustments are made to invoices for these occurrences.
